Shannon gives up a piece of the pie

Shannon with ex-husband ReitmanShannon with ex-husband ReitmanShannon has signed over a sum of money to her estranged husband, Joe Reitman. Just how big a piece, however, remains unclear.

According to recent court documents, the divorcing duo reached a final settlement in a civil suit filed by Reitman in March 2006 seeking half of all assets, property, earnings and investments accumulated by the couple in the five years they lived together before marrying in June 2002.

The case is separate from Shannon and Joe's actual divorce proceedings, which were reportedly also nearing resolution.
Shannon filed for divorce in June 2005, three months after the couple announced they were separating but would remain friends.

The following March, Joe decided that friendship wasn't everything and sued his former bride for an even share of the money that she made from her popular movie releases.

The struggling actor and sometime musician claimed in his court documents that during their years of premarital cohabitation, Shannon had agreed to go in even with him "in the acquisition of assets and in financial affairs whether such transactions were separate or joint."

Reitman's sense of entitlement stemmed from his contention that he put his own acting career on hold to help Elizabeth break into Hollywood.

"Enhanced by plaintiff's coaching, connections, training, assistance and efforts, defendant [Elizabeth] was able to become a successful actress," his lawsuit stated.

Unfortunately for Joe, he seems to have been unable to put those skills to work for himself in the days since the two split. His only recent roles include single-episode guest spots on CSI: Miami and Judging Amy, as well as a bit part as the "long-haired smoker" in M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water.

It's a shame...

..her dirtbag ex has to be such a, well, dirtbag. She is 'off the scale' hot, and seems to be a good person, too. No good deed goes unpunished. That slimeball Reitman should be thanking she ever spoke to him in the first place, much less marry him.
